Update from Delinda (August 27, 2010)
Hello strangers!
It seems like an eternity since I have written, but things have been very busy!
Kemp la barik (Children's camp) in Lospalos was great! Children everywhere are they same, they all eat their buggers, and pick their noses at inopportune (yet HILARIOUS) times. I had a great time with the kids. My favorite part was Nazarene Idol, each of the kids prepared one (or two) songs to sing and I, Mama Lisa, and Maun Augus judged, some of the kids sang straight from the heart it was so cute, and one, with a beautiful voice, singing straight from his heart to God's, right in the middle stuck his finger in his nose and kept it there as he worshiped with his eyes closed, I laughed so hard I cried, but know that God was looking down smiling because God saw the inside!
I came back for a few days and taught a bit and helped get ready for Kemp Joven (Youth Camp) on Atauro Island. Youth camp was WONDERFUL! God moved in a mighty way and brought many young people in East Timor to Christ! Thank you for your prayers, they are greatly appreciated. As always, the battle begins when you come back from an experience like camp and I've already heard a few stories. Please pray for those that have accepted Christ, that they will be able to stand firm in their new belief and continue on the path to righteousness. It's tough here, many families are very angry that the youth have become Christians and these are new Christians that don't know much yet about God's word. We need to back them the best we can with loads of prayer!
I started back to class this week and have been busy with that as well. Courses are almost finished and it's almost time to wrap things up to come back to America (two months away).
I'm looking back on my time in Timor and can't believe it's almost over. God has transformed me, He has given me so many different types of opportunities to minister and taught me many hard lessons. Please join me in praying about what's next to come, whether I will come back to Timor next year or God will open other doors. I honestly feel my ministry in Timor has just begun, I'm just beginning to get a good grasp on the language, I'm just developing some great friendships, many new opportunities seem to rise nearly every day. I'm praying God will make clear what to do, where to go, and will begin to open the doors that need to be open.
Always His Faithful Servant,
Delinda
